The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science is made up of four scientific sites across the state.

UMCES Center Administration is located on the Horn Point Laboratory site just outside of Cambridge, in Dorchester County on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

From Baltimore and Points North: From the Baltimore (Maryland) Beltway, I-695, take I-97 south to Rt. 50/301 east to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Once on the Eastern Shore, stay on Rt. 50 to Cambridge, MD, crossing the Choptank River on the Frederick Malkus Bridge. After the bridge, go to 3rd stop light and turn right (onto Crusader Road). Go one block and turn right again onto Washington St. (Rt. 343). Stay on this road for about 3.5 miles. Look for the UMCES sign on the right side of the road. Bear right on Horn Point Rd. Continue for about 1.5 miles. The entrance to the lab is flanked by two sheep statues. About .5 miles from the entrance on the right is the Horn Point Laboratory. The Center Administration building is located inside the DuPont Mansion located about .7 miles from the entrance at the end of the driveway.

From Washington D.C. and Points West: Take Rt. 50 east from the Washington DC Beltway I-95/495, to Cambridge, MD on Maryland's Eastern Shore, crossing the Choptank River on the Frederick Malkus Bridge. Proceed as listed above.

From Salisbury and Points South: Take Rt. 50 west into Cambridge. Turn left onto Crusader Road (next to English's Restaurant and Wawa gas station and convenience store). Turn right onto Washington St. (Rt. 343). Proceed as listed above.
